Women's Soccer Wins on Senior Day; Posts 1-0 Victory Over NJIT in Double Overtime
WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Howard women's soccer team put together one of its best performances of the season on Senior Day, scoring a clutch goal while shutting out NJIT in double overtime, 1-0 on Sunday afternoon at Greene Stadium.
Prior to the start of the game, seniors Elizabeth McDaniel, Jessamyn Perkins, Meghan Nick and Natalie Williston were honored for their careers with the Lady Bison.
With the win, Howard improves to 4-10, 3-2 USC, while NJIT's record drops to 2-15-1, 1-3-1 USC.
The shutout was the third of the season for the team, with Perkins once again strong in net, playing all 110 minutes and making eight saves.
Williston scored the game-winning goal for HU after putting one past Highlander keeper Sadie Mele on an assist from Rachael Lee at 104:44.
Howard will now await its seeding for the USC Tournament, slated for Nov. 1 and 3 in Farmville, Va.
