Women's Soccer Tops South Carolina State, 2-1
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Rachael Lee and Aliyah Glenn netted goals in the second half to lift the Howard women's soccer team to a 2-1 come-from-behind victory against South Carolina State Sunday afternoon in a United Soccer Conference matchup. The victory pushed the Bison to a 2-1 record in league action and marked the third straight win for HU, who improved to 3-9 overall.
South Carolina State (1-7-1, 0-3 USC) took a 1-0 lead in the 29th minute from Sasha Bender on an assist by Magaly Cerda near the 10 yard line.
Lee got the equalizer for Howard five minutes into the second half after beating SCSU goalkeeper Alechia Brothers at 51:09.
Glenn added the Bison's second goal 14 minutes later on a cross from the right side.
Howard goalkeeper Chanel Bell made five saves to earn her first victory of the season, while Brothers made eight saves on HU's 10 shots on goal.
The Lady Bison will put its three-game winning streak on the line next Tuesday night, Oct. 20 at Utah Valley. Kick-off is scheduled for 5:00 pm.
