Bison Fall to Wolverines in Great West Semifinals
NEWARK, N.J. - Utah Valley scored a pair of goals in the second half en route to a 2-0 win over Howard in the Great West Semifinals Saturday afternoon in Newark, N.J. The streaking Lady Bison wrapped up their 2009 campaign with a 5-11-2 mark.
"It was a great game. Howard is athletic and strong and certainly posed problems for us. We had to work very hard to get those goals," said Utah Valley head coach Brent Anderson.
The decision was scoreless for nearly 61 minutes before Katey Turner found the back of the net for the Wolverines.
Utah Valley added another goal in the 76th minute for the 2-0 lead.
Junior Rachael Lee and freshman Cynthia Snyder each took two shots apiece for HU. Freshmen Retha Koefoed and Jordan Brown attempted one shot each. Howard goalie Chanel Bell stopped six shots.
The Wolverines (8-10-1) advance to face Houston Baptist in the Great West Championship on Monday.
