Howard Rolls Over South Dakota State in Great West Quarterfinals

NEWARK, N.J. - Retha Koefoed a pair of goals and Howard held South Dakota scoreless as the Lady Bison sailed past the Coyotes, 2-0 in the Great West Quarterfinals held Friday at Lubetkin Field at J. Malcolm Simon Stadium.

With the win, the Lady Bison advance to the Great West Semifinals and will face Utah Valley on Saturday at 5:00 p.m. The Wolverines took down Delaware State, 6-1 in the quarterfinals on Friday.

HU (5-10-2) got on the board just four minutes into the second half when Koefoed scored on a penalty kick.

The Bison held the 1-0 lead until the 84th minute when Koefoed, the Great West Offensive Player of the Year, added her second goal on an assist from Cynthia Snyder.

South Dakota (4-12-1) got 10 saves in the net from keeper Jennifer Ogren. Bison keeper Chanel Bell made seven saves.
