Koefoed Goal Lifts Howard Over Longwood

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Freshman Retha Koefoed scored the game-winning goal in the 59th minute leading Howard to a 1-0 victory over Longwood Tuesday afternoon in a rainy decision at Greene Stadium.  The Lady Bison defeated the Lancers for just the second time in 10 overall meetings since 2003.

The win lifted HU to 4-8-2 while the Lancers dropped to 8-8-1.

Longwood and Howard were scoreless at the intermission before Koefoed scored the only goal of the match 14 minutes into the second half.  Koefoed was assisted on the winning goal by Alexis Banks.

The Lancers led 14-6 in shot attempts and had a 3-2 edge on corner kicks.

Chanel Bell played 90 minutes for Howard with seven saves en route to her fourth shutout of the year.

Howard hosts Great West foe South Carolina State on Friday in a senior day contest at 4 p.m.
