LORETTO, PA. - Brittany Valentine scored the go ahead goal for St. Francis (Pa) to lead the Red Flash past Howard, 1-0 in a women's soccer decision at Stokes Soccer Complex.
The Bison held a 2-1 advantage in corner kicks and forced 10 St. Francis fouls.
Retha Koefoed paced HU with a team-high five shots. Jordan Brown had a pair of shots while Camille Grayson and Aliyah Glenn each contributed one shot apiece.
Sophomore goalkeeper Chanel Bell had a game-high nine saves.
Valentine scored the game-winning goal at 67:01 after firing one off from the left side.
Howard opens conference play on Friday with a road matchup at Delaware State.
