Oct 4, 2009 Howard and NJIT Battle To 1-1 DrawWASHINGTON, D.C. - Briana Gamble scored the game-tying goal in the 89th minute as the Howard women's soccer team battled NJIT to a 1-1 double-overtime tie on Sunday afternoon at Greene Stadium. The tie is the second of the season for Howard and HU's record now stands at 1-6-2 (1-0-1 Great West).
Gamble recorded her first goal of the year with the equalizer. The junior was also one of four Bison players that tallied a shot in the game. Classmate Rachael Lee added an assist on Gamble's goal. The game featured strong offensive pressure by both teams as they combined for 27 shots. HU goalkeeper Chanel Bell had a good game in net for the Lady Bison, making five saves on six shots faced. NJIT (3-4-2, 0-0-1 Great West) took the lead at 46:43 when Michelle Borth scored on a penalty kick. Howard returns to Greene Stadium on Friday when it welcomes Canisius at 7 p.m.
