NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Howard's Retha Koefed has been named Great West Conference Offensive Player of the Week while teammate Cheyra Bell captures DefensivePlayer of the Week accolades for their individual performances last week. The conference office announced Monday.
Koefoed, a sophomore from Bethesda, Md., captures offensive player of the week honors with a game-winning double-overtime goal at Youngstown State to lead the Bison to a 1-0 victory. The midfielder's game-winner came in the 97th minute and gave Howard (1-3) their first victory of the young season.
Bell earns defensive player of the week honors after collecting five saves while leading Howard to a shutout and their first victory of the season with a 1-0double overtime win at Youngstown State. The senior keeper, who was a forwardfor her first three years with the Lady Bison, recorded her first shutout of hercareer.
