W. Soccer Edged 2-1 by Liberty

Washington, D.C.- The Howard University women's soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision to Liberty on Sunday afternoon at Greene Stadium.  The Flames scored a goal in the 85th minute to edge past the Lady Bison and improve to 3-3-2 overall, while the Lady Bison fell to 1-8-1 on the year.

Liberty opened up scoring when Silvia Bentancourt stole the ball and fired a shot past Howard goal keeper Kyra Dickinson in the 59th minute. For the game, Dickinson had four saves on the day.

The Lady Bison tied the match when Retha Koefoed intercepted a dribble and launched the ball into the upper right corner past Karen Blocker in the 68th minute.  The Liberty Flames answered the Lady Bison's goal in the 85th minute.  Heather Bentley is credited with the assist to Ariana Espinoza for the final goal.

The Lady Bison are back in action at home on Thurs. Sept 29 against Houston Baptist at 7pm.
