WASHINGTON, D.C. – Jeseca Hinds scored the winning goal in a defense driven match that led the Bison to a victory Friday night over Delaware State. The win capped off a chilly senior night with the ladies saying goodbye to two of their own, Briana Gamble and Chanel Bell, in their last home game. The game left the Bison 4-11-1 overall this season and the Hornets 2-14-2.
With eight shots coming in the second period by Delaware State, Howard withstood the constant pressure and added a little of their own with four shots in both halves. A save in the first period by Chanel Bell, and four saves by goalie Kyra Dickinson in the second were also key ingredients to the win.
It was a tough fought game throughout, with a total of eight corner kicks in the game and stalemate after the first 45 minutes of play. Delaware State had its chances with six of those corner kicks and 10 shots in total on the game.
The Bison now awaits the pairings for the Great West Conference tournament held at NJIT in Newark, New Jersey on November 4th.
