LONGWOOD OUTLAST HOWARD WOMEN’S SOCCER 1-0

WASHINGTON, D.C. (www.howard-bison.com) – In their second home contest of the 2012 season, the Howard University women's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to Longwood University on Monday, Aug. 27 at Greene Stadium on the HU campus.

Both teams relied on their defensive campaign to remain scoreless until the 21:21 mark of the second half, when LU's Haylea Witz notched an unassisted goal.

HU tallied four saves included a phenomenal penalty-kick block by Kyra Dickinson.

The Lady Bison went for six shots, with senior Jordan Brown and sophomore Nia Walcott going to two apiece.

For the third win of the season, Longwood attempted 17 shots and seven corner kicks.

Howard returns to the field on Saturday, Aug. 31 in Pittsburg, Pa., at Robert Morris with a 7:00 p.m. start.
