HOWARD ADVANCES TO SECOND ROUND OF GREAT WEST CONFERENCE
WASHINGTON, D.C. (www.howard-bison.com) - With an 2-1 overtime win over New Jersey Institute of Technology by the Howard University women's soccer team on Saturday, Nov. 3 during the 2012 Great West Conference Soccer Tournament, HU will advance to the next round of play.
Senior Jordan Brown and sophomore Treschelle Gibson-Serrette scored a goal to take the opening round victory.
NJIT scored the first goal at the 13-minute mark of the second half, HU then answered back with a goal at the three-minute mark to tie the contest.
Brown secured the win with a goal in overtime off an assist from senior Retha Koeford and sophomore Jeseca Hinds.
No. 6 Howard takes on No. 2 Houston Baptist on Sunday, Nov. 4 at 4:00 p.m.
Houston Baptist defeated Howard 2-0 on Monday, Oct. 29 in Houston, Texas.
