Howard Athletes Qualify For Scholar Athlete Team

Whitney Bush and Cecelia Townes, members of the 2005-06 Howard University women's tennis team, have qualified for the 2006 Intercollegiate Tennis Association Scholar-Athlete team.  The award is given to varsity letterwinners who have a grade point average of 3.5 or better or are in the Top 10 percent of their class for the 2005-06 academic year.

Ambush, a freshman from Cheverly, MD, had a 3.76 GPA.  She also recorded a team-best win percentage (83.3) in dual matches, posting a record of 10-2.

Townes, a senior captain from Sumpter, SC, had a 4.0 GPA.  She  graduated in May with an overall GPA of 3.82 in African American studies and will be attending law school at UCLA in the fall.
