UPPER MARLBORO, MD. - Aja Wright, Jasmine Smith, Alyssa Works and Michele Gee each picked up wins as the Howard women's tennis team blanked Towson, 5-0, in a non-conference matchup Saturday in Upper Marlboro, Md.

Wright defeated Evelyn Izaguirre, 6-1, 6-2 at the #1 spot while Smith took down Cassandra Ng, 6-1, 6-4 at #2. Works won at the #3 spot by defeating Amanda Scatuorchio, 6-4, 6-4 and Gee won her decison by scores of 6-2, 6-0.

In doubles action, Works and Wright took down Izaguirre and Katie Young 8-3 while the combo of Smith and Gee defeated Scaturorchio and Jaclyn Tamburo, 8-2 at the #2 spot. Jorden Shaw and Marian Blancada held off Ng and Beth Daub, 8-6. 

Howard (1-1) faces off with Mount St. Mary's on Feb. 16 at 7 pm.
