FAIRFAX, VA. - Jasmine Smith and Michele Gee each picked up individual wins but it was not enough as George Mason downed Howard, 5-2 in a non-conference women's tennis decision in Fairfax, Va.
Smith topped Stacey Berlinger 7-5, 5-7 (10-8) at No. 2 singles and Gee won 6-2, 6-2 over Alicia Van Zandt at No. 3 singles. But the Patriots recorded wins at the other singles and won two of the three doubles matches. Courtney Dorsey and Laura Marin were victorious at No. 2 doubles, downing Berlinger and Lindsay Gray 8-6.
Howard's next match is April 6 when it travels to Princess Anne, Md. for a contest against Maryland Eastern Shore.
