Howard Defeats Mount St. Mary's for Second Straight Win
UPPER MARLBORO, MD- Michele Gee, Jasmine Smith and Marian Blancada each picked up wins to lead the Howard women's tennis team in a 4-3 win over Mount St. Mary's on Feb. 16 at Watkins Park in Upper Marlboro, Md.
Gee defeated Kaitlin Hallahan, 6-4, 6-4 at the #1 spot while Smith was victorious over Emily Bolchoz by scores of 6-1, 6-2 at the #2 spot. Blancada took down Emily Grugan, 6-4, 6-2, sealing the win at #3.
In doubles action, Alyssa Works and Gee took down Bolchoz and Emily Haley, 8-6 at the #1 spot while the combo of Smith and Jordan Shaw sealed the #3 spot, defeating Grugan and Ashley Wentzel, 8-3.
Howard (2-1) is off for a few weeks before returning to action on March 15 at James Madison in Harrisonburg, Va.
