Howard Tennis Defeats Coppin State
BALTIMORE, MD. - The Lady Bison took down Coppin State, 6-1 in a MEAC women's tennis decision on Saturday in Baltimore, Md. Howard improved to 4-4 and 2-1 in league play with the win.
HU won all of its singles contests with the exception of No. 1 as CSU's Ana Sebescen defeated Aja Wright, 6-2, 2-1 before Wright retired. Jasmine Smith edged Nina Sebescen, 6-4, 6-3 at No. 2 and Michele Gee picked up a 6-3, 6-0 victory over Kyana Beckles at No. 3. Whitney Ambush defeated Mary Dogo-Isonagie, 6-1, 6-1 and Jorden Shaw blanked Amatul Bean 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5.
Alyssa Works and Aja Wright took down Ana Sebescen and Dogo-Isonagie, 8-0 at No. 1 doubles while Courtney Dorsey and Laura Marin won an 8-3 matchup at No. 2.
Howard next faces off with UMBC on Wednesday at 3pm.
