Lady Bison Drop Season Opening Match to ODU
NORFOLK, VA. - Jasmine Smith played a tough #2 slot to Barbara Costa but fell 4-6, 6-2, 6-1 as the Howard women's tennis team lost 7-0 to Old Dominion on Sunday.
#1 Aja Wright fell 6-2, 6-0 to Charleen Haaoff and #3 Alyssa Works dropped a 6-1, 6-4 set to Daniela Cohen. #4 Michele Gee and #6 Marian Blancada both lost 6-0, 6-0 and #5 Whitney Ambush was downed 6-1, 6-0.
In doubles action, Wright and Works fell 8-1 to Haahoff and Dombrowolska and Smith and Gee were downed 8-1 by the team of Costa and Fahoum. Ambush and Jorden Shaw dropped an 8-3 set to ODU's Cohen and Kubicikova.
Howard will take two weeks off before returning to action on Feb. 9 in a non-conference match at Towson at 7 pm.
