HARRISONBURG, VA. - James Madison edged Howard, 4-3 in a women's tennis decision on Saturday at Harrisonburg, Va.
The Lady Bison split with the Dukes in singles action as Michele Gee, Jorden Shaw and Whitney Ambush each picked up wins at their respective decisions. Gee won at #3, 4-6, 6-1, 10-8 while Shaw won 6-7 (5), 6-3 at #5. Ambush won the #6 singles spot by defeating Barrett Donner 6-0, 6-2.
In doubles action, Aja Wright and Alyssa Works turned in tough performances at #1 but fell 9-8 while Courtney Dorsey and Marian Blancada also fell by the same score at the #3 spot. Jasmine Smith and Michele Gee were downed #2, 8-4 by JMU's Kelly Maxwell and Kristin Nimitz.
Howard (2-2) returns to action on March 27 when it hosts Morgan State its conference opener at 2 p.m.
