WASHINGTON, D.C. - Alyssa Works defeated Elizabeth Sullivan 6-4, 4-6, 1-0 (10-5) at No. 4 singles but it was not enough as Georgetown downed Howard, 6-1, in a non-conference tennis matchup Tuesday afternoon at the McDonough Tennis Complex.
Aja Wright fell at No. 1 singles, 6-3, 6-2 and Jasmine Smith lost 6-2, 6-1 at No. 2. Liz Winokur took down Michele Gee 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3 and Alex Sebia defeated Laura Marin 6-2, 4-1 before Marin retired. Whitney Ambush fell at No. 6 singles, 6-0, 6-0.
HU lost its three doubles matchups to fall to 5-8 on the year.
Howard wrapped up its regular season and will await its seeding for the upcoming MEAC Championships, to be held this weekend in Cary, N.C.
