BALTIMORE, MD. - The UMBC women's tennis team took down Howard, 6-0, in a non-conference decision Wednesday afternoon in Baltimore, Md.
The matchup was singles only with Jasmine Smith falling 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1 and Michele Gee dropping a 6-3, 6-0 contest to Alice Chen at No. 2. Alyssa Works fought hard but lost 5-7, 6-2 1-0 (5) at No. 3 and Laura Marin fell, 6-2, 6-1 at No. 4 to Cornelia Carapcea. UMBC's Joy Adewumi took down Jorden Shaw, 6-1, 6-3 and Whitney Ambush dropped a 6-1, 6-1 decision to Emily Mannix at No. 6.
Howard (4-5) returns to action on Sunday with a contest against George Washington.
