WASHINGTON, D.C. - Howard was nipped by George Mason, 5-2 in women's tennis decision Wednesday afternoon at Banneker Courts.
Ashley Moore and Michele Gee each won in their singles matchups. Moore defeated Lindsay Gray at No. 1 singles, 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 amd Gee won 6-0, 6-2 at No. 3.
Alyssa Works was edged by Brooke Blackwell at No. 2, 7-6 (7-5), 6-3 and Whitney Ambush fell 7-6 (7-4), 6-3 at No. 4 singles.
Lauren Fenn fell at No. 5 singles but rebounded for an 8-5 doubles win with Moore.
Howard (2-9) hosts Coppin State on Friday in its first conference matchup of the year.
