Bison Win Second Straight Conference Match

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Howard swept Maryland Eastern Shore in tennis action on Tuesday at Banneker Courts. The women's squad won 6-1 while the men's squad won by the same score. Both teams remain undefeated in conference play.

No. 1 Ashley Moore was victorious over Aissa Ba, 6-1, 6-0 and Alyssa Works won 6-0, 6-3 over Fatoumata Ba at No. 2 singles. Michele Gee defeated Solana McMillan, 6-2, 6-2 at No. 3 and Whitney Ambush blanked Latoya Coltrane at No. 4 singles. Lauren Fenn won 6-0, 6-0 over Latoya Jones at No. 5.

Gee and Works teamed up for an 8-1 win at No. 1 doubles while Moore/Fenn won 8-0 at No. 2 doubles.

On the men's side, Michael Gee blanked Rashad James at No. 1 singles and Omar Haloui made easy work of Dorian Thomas at No. 2, 6-0, 6-2. Chris Brown was victorious at No. 3 singles, 6-3, 6-1 and Chad Jones won 8-2 over Marquet Robinson at No. 4. Tonique Merrell took down Richard Warren at No. 5 singles, 6-0, 6-0.

Doubles action saw Gee and Brown win 8-1 over Emmash Sudusinghe and Thomas at No. 1. Haloui and Jones defeated James and Osvaldo Rivera, 8-2 at No. 2.

The men's squad is back in action on Thursday against UMBC while both teams head to Hampton on Friday.
