WASHINGTON, D.C. - Howard defeated Coppin State, 6-1 in women's tennis action Friday afternoon at Banneker Courts.
The Bison won each set, falling only at No. 6 singles and No. 3 doubles due to a shortage of players.
Freshman Ashley Moore won 6-2, 6-2 over Ana Sebescen at No. 1 singles and Alyssa Works took down Nina Sebescen, 6-0, 6-4 at No. 2. Michele Gee blanked Sharisse Coppin at No. 3 singles and Whitney Ambush won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 4.
Senior Lauren Fenn picked up the final singles win for HU.
Gee and Works teamed up for an 8-2 win at No. 1 doubles and Moore/Fenn were victorious at No. 2, 8-0.
Howard (3-9, 1-0 MEAC) hosts Maryland Eastern Shore in a league matchup on March 31.
