WOODBRIDGE, VA. - The Howard women's tennis team squared off against George Washington on Feb. 8 and fell, 7-0, bringing the season record to 0-2.
In singles competition, freshman Ashley Moore jumped out to a lead in the No.1 match by taking the first set 6-2, but would drop the next set to Nadia Demidenko, 2-6 before losing the tiebreak 5-10. In the No.2 and No.3 matches Michele Gee and Alyssa Works both fell in straight sets 6-0, 6-0 to Jacqui Corba and Jenifer Hirsh, respectively. Whitney Ambush lost in the No.4 match 6-4, 6-1. Lauren Fenn was downed in the No. 5 matchup, 6-2, 6-0.
In doubles action, HU's No.1 pair of Works and Gee lost a tough match, 8-4 to Demidenko and Corba. In the No.2 doubles matchup, Hirsh and Madhuri Jha defeated Moore and Fenn, 8-2.
Howard is back in action Feb. 14 against NJIT in Tenafly, N.J.
