RALEIGH, N.C. - The Howard women's tennis team rolled past North Carolina A&T (NCAT) to extends its win streak to 10 matches on Friday. The No. 1 Lady Bison defeated the No. 4 Aggies, 4-0 in the opening round of the MEAC Championship and move on to face No. 2 Florida A&M in a semifinal matchup on Saturday at 8:30 a.m.
Howard (14-3) claimed the doubles point against NCAT to start the day. Michelle Brown and Ashley Moore defeated Azeib Nigatu and Cayla Cross, 8-2 at No. 2 before a team of Michele Gee and Anne Akhimien combined for an 8-5 win at No. 3.
Singles action saw Brown notch a 6-2, 5-0 victory at No. 1 over Jaymee Jones. Brittney Morgan claimed a 6-2, 6-1 win over Nina Henry at No. 2 and Moore defeated Quick Winnie, 6-1, 6-2 at No. 3.
Alyssa Works won her match at No. 4 while Gee and Akhimien finished off the match with wins at No. 5 and at No. 6 singles, respectively.
