Howard Claims 4-3 Victory Over NJIT
BOGOTA, N.J. - The Howard women's tennis team won its season opener at NJIT on Saturday with a 4-3 victory. The Lady Bison defeated the Highlanders at No. 1, 2 & 5 singles and No. 2 & 3 doubles positions.
Michelle Brown came from behind to defeat Nina Mayevska, 3-6, 7-5, 6-2 at No. 1 singles while Brittney Morgan followed that with an easy 6-0, 6-1 win over Anine Lovdal. Michele Gee continued with a victory at No. 5 singles.
The Highlanders claimed a slim 9-8 victory at No. 1 doubles, but Morgan and doubles partner Alyssa Works rallied to win the No. 2 doubles matchup. Gee and Anne Akhimien sealed the team win after taking care of the No. 3 match with an 8-6 victory.
Howard (1-0) hosts Mount. St. Mary's on Saturday, Feb. 20 in a Think Pink match at the Southeast Tennis and Learning Center.
