Lady Bison Reach MEAC Championship Final
RALEIGH, N.C. - The Howard women's tennis team is one win away from the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Championship title. Howard defeated Florida A&M (FAMU), 4-0 in the semifinal and moves on to face South Carolina State in the Championship on Sunday at 9 AM.
HU will vie for its first tennis championship title since the 1995 season.
The Lady Bison, the No. 1 seed in the north, reached the final by taking down FAMU, the No. 2 seed in the south.
The Lady Bison won the doubles point and captured wins at the numbers one, two and six singles positions to advance.
Michelle Brown, the 2010 MEAC Player of the Year, sealed the victory for Howard with a win over Rachel Pye, an All-MEAC First-Team selection, 6-3, 6-2 at the number one singles spot.
South Carolina State advanced after defeating No. 3 Bethune-Cookman, 4-0 in the other semifinal match.
