Lady Bison Sweep Mids 7-0 in Non-Conference Action

ANNAPOLIS, MD. - The Howard women's tennis team racked up another victory in non-conference action in Annapolis, Md. The Lady Bison defeated Navy 7-0 and improved to 3-0 on the season.

"We lost to a very solid Howard team today. They were able to do what we had done in our previous matches, get the doubles point and use the momentum gained to start off the singles quickly," said Navy head coach Keith Puryear.

HU opened the decision by winning its three doubles matches. Brittney Morgan and Alyssa Works defeated Dye Das and Emani Decquir easily at No. 1 doubles before Michelle Brown and Ashley Moore teamed up for a win at No. 2. Anne Akhimien and Michele Gee were victorious at No. 3 doubles.

In singles action, Brown moved to 3-0 on the year after defeating Decquir in three sets, 6-4, 4-6, 1-0 (10-8). Morgan won an easy 6-0, 6-1 contest at No. 2 singles and Moore defeated Stefanie Ton, 6-1, 3-6, 6-3 at No. 3 singles. Gee was victorious No. 4 singles while Works and Ahkimien each picked up wins at No. 5 and 6 singles, respectively.

The Lady Bison return to action on March 9 when it hosts Towson 2:30 pm.
