W. Tennis Opens Season With Match Victories
The Howard University women's tennis team opened its 2011 season this past weekend with matches against Campbell University, Virginia Commonwealth, and Old Dominion.
Campbell University 3, Howard 2
In singles action, Karolina Chernaya defeated Michelle Brown 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1 and Lisa Sutton beat Brittany Morgan, 6-2, 6-4 in the No. 2 matchup. Katelyn Stokes and Brooke Hawthorne gained a pair of victories for Howard in the No. 3 and No. 4 matchup.
Alyssa Works and Ashley Moore fell 6-2, 2-6, 6-4 in the doubles matchup.
