By Michele Gee, Broadcast Journalism Major '11

Towson, MD- Tuesday's match against the Towson University Tigers (5-2) proved to be a tough one for the Lady Bison (3-7).

Although it was a close match, the Howard University women's tennis team took a 3-4 loss against the Tigers.

Brooke Hawthorne and Brittney Morgan were successful in claiming their doubles victory at the number two position. They trumped Towson's Aandria Carr and Ioana Aprodu with an 8-4 win. With two 8-6 losses at the number one and number three doubles positions, Towson was able to snag the doubles point.

Sophomore, Brittney Morgan, had an easy 6-0,6-1 win at the number one singles position. Freshman, Katelyn Stoke, continues to shine, pulling out a grueling three setter against Encarni Lizana (0-6,6-1,6-2).

With another loss for the Lady Bison at the number six singles position, the action at the number five spot would decide the overall match. Senior and Charlotte, North Carolina native, Alyssa Works, captured the first set and fought back after losing the second.  Unfortunately, Works lost the third and the match. The final score was 2-6, 7-5, 3-6.
