Tennis With a Strong Performance at Georgetown Invitational

WASHINGTON, DC - Women’s Tennis had a strong showing at the Georgetown Invitational this weekend. Three Howard players made it to the semifinals in singles - junior Ashley Moore, freshman Brooke Hawthorne, and 2010 MEAC Player of the Year Michelle Brown.

Michelle Brown eventually lost in the finals to Georgetown’s Stephanie Wetmore 6-0; 6-3. Howard’s Brittany Morgan - the 2010 MEAC Rookie of the Year - won the consolation, defeating Georgetown’s Michaela Rollings 6-4;6-4.

The Lady Bison also placed three teams in the semifinals of doubles; Moore and Brown, Morgan and Hawthorne, Alyssa Works and Katelyn Stokes. Brown and Moore took a loss to the Hoyas' Stephanie Wetmore and Vicky Sekely in the finals 8-4.

The Lady Bison travel to the Naval Academy Invitational next Friday September 25, 2010.
