WASHINGTON, D.C. - Angelina Waterman had 13 kills and Magdalena Tekiel added 10 leading American to a 25-12, 25-20, 25-21 victory over Howard Tuesday evening in Bender Arena.
Junior Gazelle d'Artois had 12 kills and nine digs while sophomore Jiya Brown had seven digs, four kills and two service aces for the Lady Bison.
Howard out-blocked American 10-8 led by junior Nia Moore and sophomore Gabrielle Martin who had three blocks each. Junior Keri Partridge added two blocks for HU to go along with three kills. Partridge hit .429 in the decision (3-0-7).
The Lady Bison will return to action on Friday (Sept. 18) when it faces UMBC at 5 p.m. at the Spring Hill Suites at Arundel Mills Terrapin Invitational. Howard faces off with host Maryland on Saturday at 1 p.m. before wrapping up tourney play against VCU at 5 p.m.
