COLLEGE PARK, MD. - Howard wrapped up play at the Spring Hill Suites at Arundel Mills Terrapin Invitational with a pair of losses to host Maryland and VCU, respectively, on the final day of the tourney.
The Lady Bison fell 3-0 (25-18, 25-20, 25-15) to the Terps before dropping a 3-0 (25-22, 25-8, 25-22) decision to the Rams on the final day of the invitational.
HU dropped its tourney opener to UMBC 3-0 (26-24, 25-15, 25-15) on Friday.
Junior Gazelle d'Artois posted a team-high 13 kills in the loss to the Retrievers. Classmate Nicole Brown added a match-high 15 digs and sophomore Jiya Brown chipped in nine digs. Keri Partridge contributed four kills and three blocks, while freshman setter Jasmine King had 23 assists.
d'Artois finished with 14 kills against Maryland, the match-high. King was just shy of a double-double with 20 assists and nine digs, and sophomore Gabrielle Martin added six kills, four blocks and a .273 attack percentage (6-3-11).
Nicole Brown led the way on the defensive end against VCU after posting a match-high 15 digs. Junior Nia Moore chipped in seven kills while hitting .222 (7-3-18) and King finished with 21 assists, six digs and two kills.
d'Artois had eight digs and five kills versus the Rams. The California native was named to the All-Tournament team for her efforts.
Howard is back in action on Monday versus Georgetown. Match time at Burr Gymnasium is slated for 7pm.
