Hampton Defeats Howard 3-1
HAMPTON, VA. - Gazelle d'Artois had a team-high 10 kills and Nicole Brown, Gabrielle Martin and Tosin Elebute combined for 42 digs, but Howard dropped a 25-19, 25-19, 18-25, 25-22 decision to rival Hampton on Sunday in Holland Hall.
Elebute had eight kills while Nia Moore and Taylor Johnson added five each, but it was not enough to overcome three Lady Pirates with double-digit kill totals.
Johnson helped pace the Bison defense with a match-high six blocks as Howard outblocked Hampton 16-8. Freshman Jasmine King had 17 assists, while directing the HU offensive attack. d'Artois also chipped in 12 assists.
Howard fell to 2-2 in league action and into a tie with Lady Pirates, who improved to 2-2 with the victory.
The Bison return to action on Tuesday with a non-conference match against George Washington at the Smith Center.
