WASHINGTON, D.C. - Whitney Johnson and Caylin Woodward combined for 23 kills leading Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) to a 25-19, 25-10, 25-17 win over Howard Friday evening at Burr Gymnasium.
Johnson led the Lady Hawks with 12 kills and Woodward added 11 as UMES put down 43 balls compared to 25 by the Lady Bison.
Howard (6-23, 2-3 MEAC) was led by sophomore Tosin Elebute's 10 kills. Taylor Johnson, Gazelle d'Artois and Nia Moore added four kills each and Nicole Brown led all players with a match-high nine digs.
The Lady Bison hit well in the decision with a .233 attack percentage (25-11-60) while outblocking Maryland Eastern Shore 7-5.
UMES (16-6, 5-0 MEAC) served up 17 aces to remain undefeated in conference play. The loss dropped Howard to 2-3 in league action.
HU next hosts Coppin State in a MEAC contest Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m.
