Howard Falls to Florida A&M in MEAC Quarterfinals

BALTIMORE, MD. - The defending MEAC champion Florida A&M Lady Rattlers defeated the Howard Bison 3-0 in the third match of the day during the 2009 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Volleyball Championship tournament at the Coppin Center on the campus of Coppin State University.
 
Florida A&M (15-8) took the first set with a score of 25-14 and followed with a 25-9 victory in the second set. The Lady Bison (8-27) fell 25-14 in the third and deciding set.
 
Senior Maria Gomez and Jovana Blazeski, the 2009 MEAC Player of the Year, led FAMU with 12 and 11 kills, respectively.
 
Gazelle d'Artois posted seven kills and nine digs for Howard.

Nicole Brown added four kills while Keri Partridge and Gabrielle Martin contributed three kills each.
 
The Lady Rattlers face Delaware State in the semifinals of the tournament on Saturday.
