Lady Bison Earn Fourth Seed; MEAC Championship Tips Off on Friday
WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Howard volleyball team earned the fourth and final spot in the northern division and will battle Florida A&M in the quarterfinals of the MEAC Championship on Friday at 4 p.m.
Morgan State (4-6) won the three-way tiebreaker over Howard and Hampton to capture the third seed while the Lady Bison placed fourth in the seedings.
Only the top four teams in each division are eligible to compete for the conference title. Seedings are determined by conference records. Hampton (4-6), Coppin State (0-10) and North Carolina A&T (0-8) have been eliminated from tournament play based on their MEAC record.
Maryland Eastern Shore earned the top seed in the north
after finishing the season undefeated (10-0) in MEAC play.
Florida A&M earned the top seed in the southern division with
an unblemished 8-0 mark in conference play.
The MEAC Volleyball Championship
tournament begins on Friday, November 20 at 10 a.m. with
Bethune-Cookman (S2) facing off against Morgan State (N3). Maryland
Eastern Shore (N1) will compete against Norfolk State (S4) in the
second match of the day at 1 p.m. Florida A&M (S1) will contend
with Howard (N4) at 4 p.m. and South Carolina (S3) will battle
Delaware State (N2) in the final match of the day at 7 p.m.
Competition will continue on Saturday with the semi-final rounds at
noon and 3:30 p.m. The volleyball championship tournament will
conclude on Sunday beginning at noon. The championship finale will
be televised on ESPNU in a tape-delayed broadcast on the same day
beginning at 10 p.m.
