Volleyball Keeps Rolling With 3-0 Sweep of Coppin State

BALTIMORE, MD. - The HU volleyball team defeated Coppin State, 3-0, Friday evening at the Coppin Center. Howard has won four of its last five contests and improved to 1-0 in league play with the win.

Junior Gazelle d'Artois led the Lady Bison with a match-high 12 kills while hitting an errorless .632. Freshman setter Jasmine King assisted on 33 of HU's 35 kills while adding four digs, three kills and three service aces.

d'Artois and Nicole Brown paced Howard with six digs apiece. Sophomore Tosin Elebute added seven kills and classmate Gabrielle Martin chipped in five. Keri Partridge and Taylor Johnson added four kills each.

Coppin State (1-20, 0-1 MEAC) was led by Ashley Saunders' seven kills and Jazmin Brown's seven digs. The Eagles combined to hit just .127 on 20 kills in 63 attacks while committing 12 errors.

Howard (5-18, 1-0 MEAC) next plays on Sunday at 5:30 p.m. in a conference match against Morgan State in Baltimore, Md.
