BISON BLOGGING: WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALLL AND COACH GARY HARRELL

WASHINGTON, D.C. (www.howard-bison.com) – Howard University head football Coach Gary Harrell and the women's volleyball team expand their skills outside of the playing field and display their creative skills with a few blogs.

Women's Volleyball Blog:

Classes started this week for the volleyball team and everyone else at Howard University.  We all had to get back into our groove to figure out who our professors were what building our classes were in, what books we needed and remember how to manage our time efficiently.  While we are not in pre-season and don't have to eat together at every meal we still text one another during lunch to see who is available.

Practices went pretty well and we always seem to have a couple moments of goofiness whether it is whistling the Hunger Games theme song while serving, or  saying "OPA!" when we are working on serve receive and we get a perfect pass into Big Blue.  Coach Kupferburg found out while we were travelling that most of us are bottomless pits and when we have the opportunity to eat that we take full advantage of it.

We went to play Rider in New Jersey this weekend and although we were a little nervous and shaky it was an eye opening experience to what we need to work on this weekend when we go to the Pittsburg tournament to play Butler, Pitt and Coastal Carolina. We realized that we need to turn up the focus in practice and although we can have goofy moments, we must channel that energy towards the game.  Tune in next week to find out what new things Coach Kupferburg learns about our crazy team.
