Blog Week 1: Jasmine Knig

Facta, Non Verba; that is what has been engraved into our minds. The hopes of the promise land being handed to us was something no one saw coming, but our hearts and minds were put to rest with a new king on the throne. All of our broken promises have been mended and all of our questions answered. Numbers are what we strive for; those good ole stats.

Shaun Kupferberg has been a great addition to the Howard University Volleyball Program. Taking on the role as the leader of our pack, Kupferberg has already pushed this team leaps and bounds, not only physically, but mentally as well.

This year's two-a-days have been one for the books. Filled with informationals lasting about three hours and practices in between have filled our brains' to the capacity. My teammates love it! We are all enthused to learn what Shaun has up his sleeve next. We have become thirsty for his time!

We have gotten closer as the days go by. Us spending all our time with each other has only given us a great opportunity to learn each other's "better" sides. My team's inside jokes are becoming hilarious. We have given everyone a celebrity name. The next step is actually dressing like them.

We all went on a date to the sushi bar for half priced sushi. Too bad we missed the happy hour sushi by three minutes! Everyone was eating their food comparing and contrasting each other's plates and click-clacking their chop sticks like they were professionals.

Books, books, books…some of my teammates don't even have them yet. It is hilarious to me how easy they say getting books is this year, yet it is so stressful. I just picked mine up today. First day of class was great. I wonder how things panned out for the rest of my team.

After I got my books, I ran up the hill to Burr to a mandatory meeting I was minutes late for. As I walked alongside the gym, my teammates were yelling out the window that I should just turn around. I walked the walk-of-shame into the building only to greet them by saying goodbye.

We are all excited about our first game this weekend. Due to some unforeseen circumstances, I won't be participating, but I am so excited for my team to come home with the W! Go Bison!

I'd just like to take a moment to thank the Howard University Athletic Department for taking the time needed to do research and utilize their resources to bring in someone that would be a perfect fit to not only discipline this team, mold us on and off the court and treat us like the responsible adults we are, but to bring back that spirit of 'we can do this' and 'we can win', because I've got it; I feel it again. Thank you.

P.S.

Homecoming is buzzing in everyone's ears! This is going to be our year!
