WILLIAMSBURG, VA. (www.howard-bison.com) – As the Lady Bison rounded out regular-season tournament action, Destinee Harrison earned All- Tournament honors during William & Mary's Colonial Challenge on Sept. 14-15 (Friday and Saturday) in Williamsburg, Va.
Harrison finished the two-day event with 14 kills with four errors on 25 total attempts, three service aces, two solo blocks and three block assists.
The Colonial Challenge welcomed Elon, Hampton, Howard, and William & Mary, and HU suffered losses against the they opponents faced.
On Friday, Howard fell 25-15, 25-17, 25-18 to Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference foe Hampton University. Harrison led the squad in percentage by hitting .500 with six kills and one error on 10 attempts, while Meagan Lagerlef led in kills with seven.
Stephanie Shultis distributed 13 assists, Harrison gathered three service aces, Alexis Skinner collected 11 digs, and Harrison and Shultis attained three block assists each.
The Lady Bison began Saturday competition with William and Mary and a 25-21, 25-20, 26-24 loss. Once again Lagerlef and Harrison guided the offense with eight kills apiece.
Skyler Arbuckle dominated the serving game with two service aces, while Shultis and Jasmine King compiled 14 assists and assists, respectively.
Assata Conway assisted on five blocks, as Arbuckle assisted on four.
In the final match of the tournament, Elon defated HU 25-20, 25-14, 25-18 on Saturday evening.
Lagerlef remained consistent with seven kills, while Conway finished with six kills and one error on 16 attempts.
Shultis directed the court with 14 assists, as King followed with 10 assists. Skinner dug 11 Elon attacks, while Harrison attained two solo blocks and Conway assisted on two blocks.
Howard opens the regular-season with two consecutive home contests, hosting Delaware State on Friday, Sept. 28 at 7:00 p.m. and Maryland Eastern Shore on Sunday, Sept. 30 at 3:00 p.m. Both contests are MEAC competitions.
