LAGERLEF NOTCHES A SEASON-HIGH 14 KILLS IN LOSS TO AMERICAN

WASHINGTON, D.C. (www.howard-bison.com) – Despite a season-high hitting outing from sophomore Meagan Lagerlef and maintaining the lead for most of the first and second sets of Howard University's Wednesday, Oct. 17 match against American.  The women's volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision to the Eagles in Burr Gymnasium (24-26, 21-25, 15-25). 

Alongside Lagerlef's performance, sophomore Stephanie Shultis circulated 31 assists, her second highest assists outing this season, while sophomore Alexis Skinner tallied 15 assists. 

In set one, HU and AU fluctuated between leads, but remained no more than two points ahead of one another until the 14-14 mark when the Bison went on a 4-0 run.  Nonetheless, with set point on their side 24-22, four consecutive errors by Howard provide American with a 26-24 set one win. 

Set two began just as similar, with HU maintaining the lead until the 18-18 mark.  With a 7-3 American run, the Eagles took set two 25-21.

American took set three in the first three plays, taking a 2-1 lead and pacing to 23-14 run for a 25-15 win.

Howard concludes its Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference road stint with Maryland Eastern Shore on Friday, Oct. 26 and Delaware State on Sunday, Oct. 28.
