WASHINGTON, D.C. (www.howard-bison.com) – Howard University sophomore Assata Conway's weekend-high 20 kills were not enough to overpower Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference foes Norfolk State on Friday, Nov. 2 and Hampton on Sunday, Nov. 4 in Washington, D.C., at Burr Gymnasium. HU fell 25-23, 20-25, 25-16, 25-21 to Norfolk State and 25-23, 25-23, 25-13 to Hampton.
During Friday's matchup, Conway finished with eight kills on 21 attempts, while fellow sophomore Destinee Harrison tallied seven kills on 24 attempts. Sophomore setter Stephanie Shultis circulated 24 assists, as sophomore Alexis Skinner collected 14 digs. Conway also ended the contest with five block assists and a team-high two aces.
Collectively, the Lady Bison tallied 35 kills on 121 attempts (.107), 26 assists, five service aces, 44 digs and nine team blocks.
Sunday's action consisted of 12 kills by Conway and a hitting percentage of .500. Shultis distributed 21 assists, while Skinner collected 10 digs and junior Jasmine Tipton attained nine digs.
As a unit, Howard amassed 31 kills on 93 attempts (.161), 28 assists, seven service aces, 43 digs and five team blocks.
Howard will conclude the regular season with weekend MEAC action against Morgan State (Friday, Nov. 9) at 7:00 p.m. and Coppin State (Sunday, Nov. 11) at 3:00 p.m.
