WASHINGTON, DC – After a hard working season, the Howard University volleyball team has earned a spot into the MEAC Championship Tournament. The Lady Bison picked up the fourth and final spot in the North. HU will face the No. 1 seed from the south, Florida A&M on Fri. Nov. 18 beginning at 4pm in the opening round of the tournament.

My Summer Experience in Japan ~ Homestay in Mobara
Last week I participated in a Home Stay Program that allowed me to live with a Japanese family in Mobara-Chiba, Japan for a week. The program was amazing. Initially, I waited in heavy anticipation to see what my Japanese family would be like, and how they would differ from my American family. Needless to say, there were many different customs and practices I had to adapt to.

Howard fell in three matchups during action at the VB Rags Western Carolina Invitational in Cullowhee, N.C. The Lady Bison dropped a pair of matches to Cleveland State and Gardner-Webb, respectively, on Friday before falling to the host Catamounts on Saturday.

Howard Falls Short to Loyola (Md.)
A rally by the Howard volleyball team fell short in the third set as Loyola (Md.) hung on for the 3-0 (25-22, 25-23, 27-25) victory Wednesday evening at Burr Gymnasium. The two squads tied things up at 25 before the Greyhounds took the final set, 27-25 to capture the match. Junior Gazelle d'Artois (Newhall, Calif./Hart H.S.) tallied a season-high 20 kills and classmate Nicole Brown (Long Beach, Calif./Long Beach Poly H.S.) recorded a match-high 14 digs.

2009 Howard Volleyball Season Outlook
A new attitude and new commitment adds up to new excitement. The Howard University volleyball team posted one of its best seasons in recent memory with seven conference wins, the most since 2001. The Lady Bison also had an all-MEAC performer in Gazelle d’Artois to go along with a three-time MEAC Rookie of the Week honoree in Gabrielle Martin.
