Bison Tracksters Place in the Top Five

PRINCESS ANNE, MD - The Howard men's and women's cross country teams had good outings at the Cappy Anderson Invite this weekend as both squads placed in the Top 5 in the team standings.

The men's team took third with 68 points and were led by Thurman Sanders, last week's MEAC Performer of the Week. The Philadelphia native crossed the line in 28:22.07, good for eighth overall while Michael Gallion and Jerod Franklin were not too far behind after taking 10th in 28:38.00 and 11th in 28:40.08, respectively.

Richard Williams also finished in the top 20 for the Bison after crossed the line in 29:58.05.  

George Johnson (30:27.81) and Jamin Lundy (32.22.03) also turned in good performances for Howard.

The Lady Bison finished fourth in the team standings with 80 points and were paced by Ashley Hodges and Jessica Neal. The pair crossed the line in 18:27.07 and 18:39.04, respectively, to earn fourth and sixth place finishes.

Brittany Jackson took 16th in 20:18.04 to round out the top 20 for the women.

Charisse Bullock (21:33.07) and Azalia King (21:49.01) also crossed the line for the Lady Bison.

Howard returns to action this weekend at the Spiked Shoe Invitational on Sept. 29.
