Three Bison Receive All-Conference Honors at MEAC XC Championship

PRINCESS ANNE, MD. - Ashley Hodges, Thurman Sanders and Richard Williams received All-MEAC honors leading both the men's and women's Howard cross-country teams to fourth-place finishes at the Mid-Eastern Athletic Championship on Saturday at Md. Eastern Shore.

Hodges earned all-conference honors for the second straight year as she completed the 5k course in 17:58.07, which was good for third place overall.

As a team, the Lady Bison finished with 120 points. Maryland Eastern Shore won the women's title for the second straight year after finishing with 55 points.

Jami Hardy was the second Howard runner to finish as she placed 17th in 19:19.68. Lauren McNary (20:05.95) and Tamila Myles (20:20.26) placed third and fourth for the Bison, respectively.

Brittany Jackson (20:27.70) was the final scoring member for the Bison.

Azalia King and Amelia Woodruff also saw action for HU.

On the men's side, Sanders was the top finisher for the Bison after crossing the line in 26:35.74, good for a ninth place finish.

Richard Williams was 13th in 27:21.44 while Jerod Franklin (28:21.26), George Johnson (28:49.56) and Peter Gentles (29:27.35) all scored points for Howard.

Kendall Frost (29:28.66), Hamadi Price (29:39.71) and Andre Williams (29:42.05) all saw action for HU.

The Bison men scored 107 in its fourth place finish. Norfolk State scored 27 points en route to the championship title.
