Lady Bison Take Seventh at Cappy Anderson Invite

PRINCESS ANNE, MD. - Ashley Hodges finished 21th overall and Jami Hardy was 37th leading the Howard women's cross country team to a seventh-place finish at the Cappy Anderson Invitational on Saturday in Princess Anne, Md.
Hodges finished the 5k course in a time of 18:35.46 to pace the Lady Bison. Hardy completed the race in 20:57.98.
Behind Hodges, Howard finished seventh in the team standings with 149 points. Princeton won the team title with 20 points followed by Penn State (37 pts) and UMBC (75 pts). Morgan State (182 pts) and Bowie State (187 pts) trailed HU for eighth and ninth-place finishes.
Brittany Jackson finished third for the Lady Bison. Jackson was 49th overall in 22:07.23.
Danielle Douglas and Amelia Woodruff rounded out the competition for Howard. Douglas crossed the line in 22:58.20 and Woodruff finished in 24:58.98.
The men's squad also took home a seventh-place finish.
Thurman Sanders was the top finisher for the Howard men's cross country team on Saturday after finishing in 26:54.92.
Michael Gallion was the second HU runner to cross the finish line. He completed the 8k course in 27:30.50, which earned him a 56th-place finish.
Peter Gentles finished in 28:36.25, Hamadi Price crossed the line in 29:19.36 and Kendall Frost completed the course in 33:10.95.
Howard's next competition will be at the Colonial Inter-Regional Challenge on Saturday (Sept. 26) in Williamsburg, Va.
