HOWARD CROSS COUNTRY TEAMS TAKES SECOND AND FIFTH AT JAMES MADISON

NEW MARKET, VA. (www.howard-bison.com) – During the James Madison Open Invitational the Howard University men's cross country took second place, while the women's squad took fifth on Saturday, Sept. 15, 2012 in New Market, Va.

With a total time of 2:13:31.50, the HU men's squad took second place as a team, as the women completed the race as a unit with a time of 1:55:34.60. 

On the men's side, Giovani Mowatt came in at ninth place with a time of 26:28.40, Elly Rono completed with a time of 26:47.20 for a 10th place finish, while Aaron Harrison came in 15th place (27:06.40), James Carey finished in 19th place (27:23.90), Nicholas Tirop crossed the finish line in 27th place (28:34.00), Oluwaysayie Durogosa claimed 30th place (30:12.00), and Gilbert Kiplagat rounded out the HU runners in 38th place (35:25.36) during the 8k race. 

Mariza Diaz came in first for HU for the second consecutive event with a time of 21:14.90 for 19th place, Candice Germain finished in 27th place with a time of 22:01.30, in 40th place Joy Gilmer finished the race in time of 23:28.40, Cynthia Ruffin finished in 41st place in 23:29.20, while Doriean Brody finished in 25:20.80 for 49th place, and Danielle Douglas came in 51st place with a time of 25:44.50.

HU returns to the terrain at the University of Virginia on Saturday, Sept. 29 in Charlottesville, Va.
